Would you resign from your job using Facebook?
It seems as if a few people either have, or would, resign from their jobs on Facebook. However, it looks like most Australians resist using Facebook for personal communications. B & T Magazine surveyed 962 people and asked:
"Would you do any of the following things using Facebook?"
Fire an employee? 1% said yes.
Resign from your job? 2% said yes.
Dump your boyfriend/girlfriend? 2% said yes.
Ask someone out on a date? 10% said yes.
Declare your love for someone? 8% said yes.
The good news is that 77 percent of Australians surveyed said that they would not do any of the above on Facebook. It's vital that your Facebook personal and business profiles are kept completely seperate.
LinkedIn Reaches 1 Million Australian Users
Who said Social Media was a fad? Facebook reached 350 million users in December 2009. LinkedIn today announced that the LinkedIn Australia membership has passed the 1 million mark. According to research compiled by LinkedIn, Australia is one of LinkedIn's fastest growing regions. Globally, a new member joins LinkedIn every second.
LinkedIn is free to use, making it ideal for small business owners with small budgets to get connected. Online networking gives businesses a distinct advantage over other professionals.
LinkedIn Profiles appear as one of the top Google search results under your name. Make sure that your profile is complete and updated. Potential clients and partners may Google you before meetings, so use LinkedIn as an opportunity to sell yourself and your achievements.

Facebook Reaches 400 Million Users
Facebook was launched six years ago by Mark Zuckerberg and his roommates at Harvard University.
“Facebook began six years ago today as a product that my roommates and I built to help people around us connect easily, share information and understand one another better,” Zuckerberg said.
“People around the world are using the service to share information about events big and small and to stay connected to everyone they care about.”
Last year, Facebook replaced MySpace last year as America’s top online social network.
If you are still unsure about the power and effect of social media – think again. It’s not going to go away. Marketing has changed and social networking is here to stay. It’s time to engage with your customers, to listen instead of broadcast, and join in before you get left behind your competitors.
