YouTube Turns Five
There is no doubt that YouTube has come a long way in these five years. And even more spectacular was when Google paid $1.65 billion dollars for YouTube in October, 2006 (the largest amount of money Google has paid for any one company buyout).
Today, YouTube serves up over 2 billion page views a day - nearly double the prime-time audience of all three major U.S. television networks combined. Check out these YouTube facts:
- There are 24 hours of video uploaded every minute to YouTube

- Average user spends 15 minutes per day on YouTube
- Almost 70 percent of YouTube’s traffic is from outside of the United States
- Advertising partner revenue more than tripled in 2009
According to the YouTube team, “This is only the beginning of the video revolution. We’re just getting started”.
Happy birthday YouTube!
